As a Prime enrolled beneficiary, what should I do if I live in a non-Prime service area?

First, you need to find a network Primary Care Manager (PCM). Your PCM will coordinate specialty care for you when necessary. As long as you visit a network provider, you won't need to obtain an approved referral. Your PCM will schedule your appointment with the network specialty provider.

If you seek specialty care from any provider, network or non-network, without coordinating your care through your PCM, you will be utilizing your Point-of-Service (POS) option  and will be subject to a deductible and higher out-of-pocket costs.

Determine if a specialty care referral is required, check out the referral decision tool now.
