If I choose not to keep my civilian insurance while I'm active duty, what happens when my active duty status ends?
You and your family can resume your civilian insurance immediately upon your release from active duty. Under the USERRA, there is no waiting period or penalty for pre-existing conditions.
The ESGR (Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve) explains your rights when you're called to active duty. You can also contact ESGR staff members who will help you protect your rights.
