A claim we submitted rejected for Third Party Liability. There was no third party. Can this claim be reprocessed?
Yes, the claim can be reprocessed as soon as we receive a completed Third Party Liability Form from the patient. For certain diagnosis codes — those that indicate possible injury or accident — this form is required even if you believe there was no third party involved. Because the government can recover money when a third party is involved, they require documentation when a diagnosis code indicates an injury or condition that conceivably could have been caused by a third party. That's why the Federal Medical Recovery Act requires us to have this form on file before we can process your claim.
